Natural Wood Fibers
Produced from sustainably sourced wood by environmentally responsible processes.
“Every small action makes a big difference to the world.”
Labtex is committed to sustainability by choosing natural materials and remain environmentally conscious every step of the way.
We’ve selected Tencel in place of rayon to ensure that the raw materials are certified to be safe for the planet.
TENCEL™ Lyocell
Wood innovation to open your senses
All TENCEL fibers are produced sustainably, with raw materials from renewable wood which undergo a closed-loop process.
Famous for its gentleness to the skin, TENCEL fibers can be easily combined with other fibers to enhance its functionality and exterior appearance. Its special quality allows for moisture absorption and superior hand feel.
The supreme smooth fabric, sometimes even silky, has a texture similar to cotton or linen. The fabric also has a fluid drape, allowing for natural flow along the shape of the body.
LENZING™ Modal
An even more premium next to skin softness
Modal is also derived from wood raw materials, although the production process is slightly different than that of Lyocell.
Modal is also very similar to Lyocell in terms of softness, comfort, breathability and moisture absorption; and yet Modal’s texture is more delicate. Often, Modal is manufactured to be lightweight and thinner than Lyocell. It too can be blended with other fibers to enhance its properties. On top of that, its high flexibility gives it endless design possibilities, is a favorable choice for designers.
LENZING™ Modal Sun
With all the qualities of Modal and more
This type of fiber provides superior solar protection especially designed to meet the performance and sustainability demands of the outdoor apparel market. The modal fiber has permanent mineral pigment integration which is the main factor for its long-term solar protection performance. Even after several washes, there is still visible effective results.
Modal Sun, same as Modal fiber, is made from wood which is a natural 100% bio-degradable raw material. And as it is UV protective and botanically natural, it is the perfect eco-friendly alternative to polyester and conventionally finished solar protection fabrics.
Forest Stewardship Council Certification (FSC)
The raw wood materials that make up Tencel fiber are certified by FSC, so that consumers can be sure that it is made from responsibly managed forests, with concern for the environment and benefits for the society.
There are total of ten principles that must be met in order to receive FSC forest management certification. In brief, the issues range from maintaining high conservation values to community relations and worker’s rights, and on to monitoring environmental and social impacts in regards to the forest management.
